Walk in His Word- Closer to God Newsletter

Thank you for taking time today to make God's Word a part of your life.

One thing I've experienced in my life is noticing how many people seem so lost at times.

They go day to day wondering if what they do makes a difference.

Is that you?

If so, today's verse will definitely help.

When you find yourself lost while trying to reach a destination on a road or trail, using a map or GPS is the most effective method for finding your way.

But what about when we are lost in life?

What map or advice are you relying on? Is it the internet or self-proclaimed experts peddling books or products? I sincerely hope it's not.

When we need direction, the best way forward is going to God.

His Word will guide us.

Today, let's turn to the Old Testament and the words of a great prophet who spoke to those seeking help from the wrong sources instead of trusting their loving Creator.

"Whether you turn to the right or to the left your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'"

Isaiah 30:21 · New International Version

Here's a Brief Background...

This verse discusses the themes of guidance, direction, and a promise from God.

At this point in the book of the prophet Isaiah, the people of Judah were concerned about an impending invasion from the Assyrian army. Instead of seeking assistance from God, they wanted to rely on Egypt for help.

This story rings true throughout the Bible and even in today's world. People are looking for security in their own plans instead of going to God for the help and guidance they need in life.

This passage also has an essential message of hope. If we turn to God, and listen to his Words for direction, he will teach us the way to live and succeed.

Let's Break It Down...

"Whether you turn to the right or to the left your ears will hear a voice behind you, "

If you genuinely believe in the power of God and his Word, no matter what direction you go in your life, you will feel his divine direction.

It doesn't have to be an "audible" voice; it could be a feeling or notion that leads you on the path you need to go.

"saying, This is the way; walk in it."

God has shown us the pathway to a good life through His Word. His commandments, His instructions, and the Bible are loaded with advice and knowledge we need to apply to our lives each day.

It is the way.

All we need to do is follow it and walk the walk.

Take Some Action...

Trust.

This is the initial step. Aligning yourself with God's guidance requires trusting in what you cannot see or touch. Faith starts with trust, allowing you to let go and let God take control.

Be Attentive.

The guidance we receive from God can manifest in ways we may not anticipate. It is vital to be attentive to the "voice of God," which may come through reading Scripture, conversing with close friends, or experiencing the quiet, inner convictions in your heart.

Seek His Guidance.

Embrace God’s wisdom through heartfelt prayer and exploring the Bible. When faced with choices, seek His guidance, and confidently trust His perfect direction for your life!

Reflect and Reassess.

Take time to regularly reflect on the direction your life is heading. Ask yourself if it aligns with God's message through His Word and principles. If you feel you need to move in a different direction, seek His guidance.

To Sum it All Up...

Instead of looking to the "ways of the world" for guidance and direction - Go to God.

If you feel lost and your life is spinning out of control - Seek God First.

He desires a relationship with you. He loves you and wants to help. His Word is eternal and is there to guide you through life.

This week, dedicate a specific time each day to spend time in prayer or reading some scripture. Use this time to ask God to open your heart to His direction.

Here's a Prayer For You...

Dear God,
When I’m unsure which way to go or what choice to make, help me turn to You first.

There are moments when the path ahead feels unclear, and I struggle to decide what’s right.

I don’t want to rely on the world’s wisdom—what I truly need is Your Word to guide me.

Open my heart and mind to Your gentle leading, and help me trust Your hand in every step I take.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Think of someone heading in the wrong direction and needing to hear this message today.

Please share it with them.

I hope that by sharing His Word, you can get Closer to God.

I'm praying for you out there; please continue to pray for me as well.

Have a blessed day!

Merry Christmas! For many, this holiday is considered the best of the year, particularly for Christians worldwide, as it marks the birth of Jesus, the savior of humanity. This week, I am stepping away from my usual format of applying a scripture verse to our lives, as it is now the best time to reflect on when the Word became flesh and dwelled among us. Jesus was born and saved us from a life of sin. This means everything to us, as this marks the beginning of Jesus's humble journey. Let's go...

The Christmas season is definitely upon us. Can you feel it? This is a joyous time of year for so many, but this is a hard time to get through for countless others. The stress and consumerism surrounding the next two weeks can be overwhelming and completely overshadow this season's true meaning. For Christian believers, this is when we celebrate the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ by spreading the good news to all who want to hear. This is the ideal time to express our faith and show...

Do you want to make the world a better place? You've come to the right place, as today's verse shows us how to eliminate selfishness from our lives and assist others. My goal has always been to bring you Closer to God by simply making His word a part of your life. If we truly "live" by His Word rather than just reading it, extraordinary things will happen. You'll find words written long ago hold even more relevance in the world we live in today. The Apostle Paul wrote today's verse to those...
