Having you here today is fantastic, making time for God's Word in your life.

You'll find that your mindset will improve when you read and listen to scripture.

Has there been a time in your life when you've felt alone and needed the help and guidance of a trusted friend?

Today's verse is one of thanksgiving. When you need help, God is there for you.

All you need to do is reach out to him, and today, I'll show you how you can achieve this, along with expressing gratitude for his support.

Let's go to the Old Testament and the Book of Psalms..

"The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you."

Psalm 9: 9-10 · New Living Translation

Here's a Brief Background...

Much of the Book of Psalms is attributed to David, the second king of Israel, and Judah, who ruled for over 40 years.

He's known for his famous battle against Goliath and as the man after God's heart.

David was also a shepherd and a poet and wrote most of the Psalms to God as an act of faithfulness and devotion.

In this verse, David reflects on God's righteousness in delivering him from his enemies and highlights God's role as a refuge and protector for the oppressed in times of trouble.

Let's Break It Down...

The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

A shelter protects from storms and the elements, like a basic tent or building. It offers safety and refuge. God is your shelter in tough times when you need help and protection.

Those who know your name trust in you,

If you have a deep connection with God, believe in His presence, and have experienced His impact in your life, you can confidently rely on Him. His unwavering support in the past assures a promising future with His guidance.

For you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.

God desires a relationship with us and does not forsake those who actively seek him. In times of difficulty, he longs to be our refuge.

Let's Take Some Action...

Here are some great suggestions to help you grow your relationship with God.

Seek God.

When hard times hit, go to God in prayer. Make it a habit to stop, turn to him first, and meditate on his Word. Search for him, and you'll see how he's waiting for you.

Develop Your Relationship with Him.

In your daily routine, make scripture and prayer a priority. God shouldn't be a stranger in your life. Nurturing a friendship with God only helps you when struggles arise.

Be A Refuge to Others.

Our faith and resilience are strengthened when we help others. Providing support to others allows us to experience God working through us, and we also witness that assistance reciprocated back to us when we need help.

Engage in Community Worship and Support.

Our relationship with God thrives when we share it with others in a worship mindset. I can't tell you how often I've seen communities come together to help those in need. It's right here in scripture: "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:20)

To Put It All Together...

Throughout my journey, I've gained valuable insights through challenging experiences.

Sometimes, I sought solace in the wrong places instead of turning to God.

I neglected prayer and overlooked seeking guidance from God, and as a result, I encountered difficulties.

It's disheartening to witness many individuals seeking help from unreliable sources such as the internet, social media, or toxic environments.

The remedy is straightforward: learn from David's example and turn to God.

By embracing a relationship with our compassionate Father, we will discover the refuge and support we seek.

I am optimistic that by prioritizing our connection with God, we can navigate life's challenges with grace and strength.

Here's a Prayer For You...

Heavenly Father,
I come before You now, seeking Your guidance and presence in these challenging times.

When the world's weight feels too heavy, remind me that I don't have to carry it alone.

Draw near to me, Lord, and let me feel Your comforting embrace.

You are my safe haven, my shelter from the storms that swirl around me.

I trust in Your unfailing love and know that, no matter what, You will never forsake me.

Thank You for always being by my side.
Amen.

We don't ever have to be alone.

God is with us and for us.

Pray to him daily and express gratitude for all he has done in your life.

His love is everlasting.

Please share this message with someone you care about who may be going through a crisis and need God's love.

I'm praying for you out there; please pray for me, too!

Have a blessed day.

Merry Christmas! For many, this holiday is considered the best of the year, particularly for Christians worldwide, as it marks the birth of Jesus, the savior of humanity. This week, I am stepping away from my usual format of applying a scripture verse to our lives, as it is now the best time to reflect on when the Word became flesh and dwelled among us. Jesus was born and saved us from a life of sin. This means everything to us, as this marks the beginning of Jesus's humble journey. Let's go...

The Christmas season is definitely upon us. Can you feel it? This is a joyous time of year for so many, but this is a hard time to get through for countless others. The stress and consumerism surrounding the next two weeks can be overwhelming and completely overshadow this season's true meaning. For Christian believers, this is when we celebrate the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ by spreading the good news to all who want to hear. This is the ideal time to express our faith and show...

Thank you for taking time today to make God's Word a part of your life. One thing I've experienced in my life is noticing how many people seem so lost at times. They go day to day wondering if what they do makes a difference. Is that you? If so, today's verse will definitely help. When you find yourself lost while trying to reach a destination on a road or trail, using a map or GPS is the most effective method for finding your way. But what about when we are lost in life? What map or advice...
