Eternal Rewards- Closer to God Newsletter

Let's spend a moment today to show you how God's Word in scripture can make a difference in your life.

I used to seek quotes from influential people and self-help books for support and inspiration, but they were never satisfying or lasting.

One day, I noticed my Bible on a shelf and recalled that during my childhood, it was all I needed.

What happened? Well, life happened. We grow older and get influenced and distracted by the media, culture, and surroundings.

I needed a change. I needed to draw closer to God.

This is my goal for you: bring Him closer to you.

His Word is the way, and today is a great verse to remind us to persevere in our daily trials.

Let's go into the New Testament to see that no challenge in life can compare to the beautiful future God has planned for us.

"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,"

2 Corinthians 4: 16,17 · English Standard Version

Here's a Brief Background...

The Apostle Paul wrote this passage of encouragement and hope to the church in Corinth.

He was reaching out to believers who were going through hard times and felt like giving up.

His message inspires us to embrace life's challenges, reminding us that despite our struggles, we are bound for an incredible eternal reward that outshines the wonders of our earthly journey.

The broader context involves endurance during times of suffering and comparing earthly afflictions to the eternal weight of glory that awaits us in heaven.

Let's Break It Down...

So we do not lose heart.

In other words, do not give up. Take a moment and a deep breath. When times get rough, our first reaction is to quit, but we need the insight of endurance and faith that it's only temporary and we can get through it because God is with us.

Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

We cannot beat time. By nature, we grow older every day. Though "wasting away" may sound harsh, we must accept that our physical bodies are temporary, while our inner selves—our souls—are meant for eternity. As we age physically, our inner being is renewed through our faith and beliefs.

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.

Whatever we are experiencing that causes us stress, pain, or confusion is only temporary in the grand scheme of life. The important thing to remember is that these trials are building our character and resilience, renewing our inner selves and souls for an eternity that is so great and glorious that we cannot fully understand it in our earthly existence.

Take Some Action...

Focus on Inner Renewal.

Strengthen your inner being by praying, meditating, and reading scripture more each day; before long, you can make it a habit that helps you renew and reset when times get challenging.

Embrace Hope.

Look back on past struggles and note how, even though they were hard, they were only temporary. Remind yourself of God's promise of eternal rewards and His purpose for you. This creates resilience.

Faithful Endurance.

Faith and endurance go together. When tough times arise, you must go to your faith in God to see you through. Remember a great verse from Hebrews (11:1) that allows us to count on faith, knowing there's a greater purpose in our trials, even if it's not immediately visible.

Reflect Daily.

Allow yourself time to reflect on how far you've come in renewing your inner self each day. Acknowledge signs of growth. We can accept that physically, we get older, and it's part of life, but we also get wiser because we've experienced more in life.

To Sum it All Up...

What we go through in life has an eternal reward.

Every day presents opportunities for internal, spiritual growth, which help us overcome life's challenges and accumulate treasures in heaven.

The key is not to give up.

Have faith in God and His purpose for you.

He has an eternal plan for you that is beyond our human comprehension.

Here's a Prayer For You...

Dear Lord, my Father in Heaven,
Thank you for your unending grace and love.

Please strengthen me to overcome the challenges in my life, remembering that they are only temporary.

Prepare my heart and mind to live a life worthy of the unimaginable rewards you have promised in Heaven.

Help me accept the changes in my outward being, knowing that my spirit is renewed each day as I immerse myself in your Word and live it out in my life and with others.

I hold tightly to your guidance and receive your grace with a grateful heart. Amen.

When we make God's Word a part of our life each day, we build a life that God will glorify.

We can start by sharing this message with someone you know.

Everyone goes through rough times, but do they know God's Word will help them overcome?

Thanks again for exploring how scripture is the key to a better life for every one of us.

I'm praying for you out there; please continue to pray for me.

God Bless You!

Merry Christmas! For many, this holiday is considered the best of the year, particularly for Christians worldwide, as it marks the birth of Jesus, the savior of humanity. This week, I am stepping away from my usual format of applying a scripture verse to our lives, as it is now the best time to reflect on when the Word became flesh and dwelled among us. Jesus was born and saved us from a life of sin. This means everything to us, as this marks the beginning of Jesus's humble journey. Let's go...

The Christmas season is definitely upon us. Can you feel it? This is a joyous time of year for so many, but this is a hard time to get through for countless others. The stress and consumerism surrounding the next two weeks can be overwhelming and completely overshadow this season's true meaning. For Christian believers, this is when we celebrate the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ by spreading the good news to all who want to hear. This is the ideal time to express our faith and show...

Thank you for taking time today to make God's Word a part of your life. One thing I've experienced in my life is noticing how many people seem so lost at times. They go day to day wondering if what they do makes a difference. Is that you? If so, today's verse will definitely help. When you find yourself lost while trying to reach a destination on a road or trail, using a map or GPS is the most effective method for finding your way. But what about when we are lost in life? What map or advice...
