Answer His Call - Closer to God Newsletter.

Thank you for taking time today to listen to God's Word.

I firmly believe that your day and life will be transformed when you immerse yourself in scripture and reflect on its life-changing guidance.

Have you ever felt like you are being 'called' to do something greater? This feeling is not unique to a few, but a universal experience that we all share.

It could be reaching out to help others in need or support a cause, volunteering your time, or spreading the Good News of God's love for everyone.

In today's verse, a humble man answers God's call, transforming his life forever as he becomes a prophet.

Let’s explore how scripture can intervene in our lives, leading to wonderful outcomes.

Then I heard the Lord asking, "Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?" I said, "Here I am. Send me."

Isaiah 6:8 · New Living Translation

Here's a Brief Background...

Isaiah was one of the most influential prophets in the Old Testament. He lived during a turbulent period in history between Israel and Judah. His book spans 66 chapters, with themes about judgment, hope, and repentance.

Isaiah had a divine calling from God, which is highlighted in this verse today. This event set the tone for his mission of delivering the Word of God to the leaders and people of Judah.

Like all of us, he yearned for purpose. When called by God, he embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, ready to serve with unwavering dedication and courage.

Let's Break It Down...

Then I heard the Lord asking...

When you pray or are meditating on His Word. Open up and be receptive to what God may be (asking) of you in your life. You may not hear an audible voice; it could be an idea, notion, or urge to do something extraordinary or noble in your life.

"Whom shall I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?"

God is searching for us daily to show up and spread his good news to the world. To help others in need. He's looking for you and wants a relationship with you. All you have to do is receive him in your life. When he calls you, could you answer?

I said, Here I am, Send me

Isaiah answered and prophesied. His words, delivered from God, gave hope to generations. He took the next step, and incredible things happened. What might God have in store for you?

Let's Put It Into Action...

When you feel the need to do more, it could be your call to action with God.

Here are some ideas to get started...

Embrace your Willing Heart.

Like Isaiah embraced God's call, think about the wonderful ways you can serve in your workplace, community, church, or family!

Seek God Out.

The more time you spend with God's Word, the better chance to hear His message and let it speak to you. Pray and meditate on Scripture. God speaks to you the more time you spend around him.

Accept Grace and Forgiveness.

Isaiah initially felt inadequate, but through God's grace, he was forgiven—and so are we. We must accept His forgiveness and empower ourselves to step out in faith.

Listen for God.

Stay attentive to God's voice in your life. He speaks to us in various ways: through prayer, by reading the Bible, through the circumstances we encounter, and through the people around us. Open your heart and mind to receive His call to live out His message, help others, and be a shining example of your faith.

To Sum it All Up...

We never know how or when God will speak to us, but we must be receptive to His call.

It could be in the silence of prayer, the help of a friend in need, or a worthy cause that could use your unique talents.

The point here is not to be afraid to represent God and his purpose for you.

So many wait for the symbolic "burning bush" sign in their lives when the opportunity to serve is right under their noses.

When that opportunity arises, be like Isaiah and say, "Here I am, Send me."

Here's a Prayer For You...

Dear God,

Are you calling me to a higher purpose? Help me to hear your message clearly, and grant me the courage to respond.

I desire to align my life with your will and to be a vessel of your grace.

Allow the Holy Spirit to work through me, guiding my thoughts and actions so that I may help others in their journeys.

Empower me to spread your word with confidence, to share your love with those in need, and to serve my community with a humble heart.

May my life reflect your light, and may my words be a source of hope and encouragement to those around me.

Teach me to embrace each moment as an opportunity to live out your purpose and let my faith inspire others to seek you.

In this mission, I praise your holy name, and I trust in your guidance.

Amen.

Stepping out in faith and serving takes faith, confidence, and action.

You're not alone; when God calls, he's with you.

I hope today's message inspires you to follow God's unique call to serve and help others.

A straightforward way to do this is by sharing this message with someone who would benefit from it.

My goal is to show you how God's Word and message can change your life in a significant way.

My prayers are with you; please pray for me as well.

Have a blessed day out there!

Merry Christmas! For many, this holiday is considered the best of the year, particularly for Christians worldwide, as it marks the birth of Jesus, the savior of humanity. This week, I am stepping away from my usual format of applying a scripture verse to our lives, as it is now the best time to reflect on when the Word became flesh and dwelled among us. Jesus was born and saved us from a life of sin. This means everything to us, as this marks the beginning of Jesus's humble journey. Let's go...

The Christmas season is definitely upon us. Can you feel it? This is a joyous time of year for so many, but this is a hard time to get through for countless others. The stress and consumerism surrounding the next two weeks can be overwhelming and completely overshadow this season's true meaning. For Christian believers, this is when we celebrate the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ by spreading the good news to all who want to hear. This is the ideal time to express our faith and show...

Thank you for taking time today to make God's Word a part of your life. One thing I've experienced in my life is noticing how many people seem so lost at times. They go day to day wondering if what they do makes a difference. Is that you? If so, today's verse will definitely help. When you find yourself lost while trying to reach a destination on a road or trail, using a map or GPS is the most effective method for finding your way. But what about when we are lost in life? What map or advice...
